Martin Jaffe, the Environmental Planning specialist for the Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant College Program, teaches land use law and physical and environmental planning in the Urban Planning & Policy Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Marty is also a faculty fellow at UIC's Great Cities Institute, where he directs the Institute's Metropolitan Sustainability initiative. Marty is currently serving on several advisory boards in the bistate Chicago metro area, including: the City of Chicago Department of Environment's Calumet Government Working Group, the Air Quality Subcommittee and Watershed Advisory Group of the Northwest Indiana Regional Planning Agency, the Water Resources Advisory Group of the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission, the Metropolitan Planning Council's and Openlands Project's Groundwater Advisory Group, the Illinois EPA's Basinwide Management Advisory Group, and the USEPA's Lake Michigan Forum. He is also active on the Chicago Wilderness' Sustainability Team, participates in the Southern Lake Michigan Regional Water Supply Consortium, and wrote the American Planning Association's 2002 water resources management policy guide.
