Workshop Information

Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant College Program, in conjunction with the Geography Educators' Network of Indiana, would like to introduce you to a wonderful educational opportunity

The Exotic Aquatics on the Move workshop will be held at Indiana Dunes State Park. Participants are responsible for their own accommodations; however the Indiana Dunes State Park will provide meals and snacks. An honorarium will be given to participants who fulfill workshop objectives.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:
Increase your knowledge about exotic aquatic species and their impacts on the ecosystem and economy, especially those threatening our aquatic environments.

Help you meet the National Geography Standards by linking exotic species activities and projects from this workshop to these standards.

Enhance information sharing between students and teachers engaged in the study of geography and social studies.

Facilitate community awareness of exotic aquatic species and improve understanding of how these species affect humans and how humans affect their dispersal and population distribution.

ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES of PARTICIPANTS:
Develop a classroom activity to be published in a national compendium.

Revise the activity based on reviewers' comments.

Guide students to develop community awareness projects.

Share education and information resources with colleagues through in-service training or presentation at educational forums.
