Annual Report

Major Goals and Objectives: to quantify the timing and duration of alewife-larval yellow perch spatial overlap relative to spring warming rate in southern Lake Michigan.

Summary of Progress: Little progress has been made on this proposed pilot study. The sampling season occurred in May-June 1998 however technological problems were experienced with the hydroacoustic system. Since the hydroacoustic system was the proposed sampling device and it was not working properly, we were unable to collect any data. Although this funding cycle ends February 1999, the contacts made possible by this funding (see partnerships below) have agreed to work collaboratively for the May-June, 1999 sampling season.

Partnerships with other Institutions/individuals: Illinois Natural History Survey (Dr. John Dettmers), University of Michigan (Dr. Ed Rutherford), Wisconsin DNR, Indiana DNR, Michigan DNR, Yellow Perch Task Group (Part of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission)
