Dr. Brian Miller is a Natural Resource Social Scientist and Wildlife Biologist. He is the Director of the Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant College Program and the Illinois Water Resources Center. His research focuses on factors influencing natural resource planning and decision making. He has developed, led, or been involved in land use engagement programs and online decision support systems (DSS) projects including Planning with POWER, Local Decision Maker, Tipping Point Planner.org, and Great Lakes Monitoring.org.
Dr. Miller is the National Co-Chair of Sea Grant’s Sustainable Coastal Development Focus team and a member of NOAA’s Great Lakes Regional Collaboration Team. He is experienced in facilitating community land use discussions and currently serves as the facilitator for the development of the Illinois Nutrient Reduction Strategy to reduce nutrient inputs resulting in Gulf hypoxia.
